A Friendly Move

Marina Herriman - Library Staff (1994 onwards)

I started work at the reserve counter after moving over from Adelaide. I didn't know a soul in Melbourne so was very lonely. I used to see a bunch of "girls" who met 10.30am, lunch & 3.30pm at a table and chatted away. One day after I had been there about 6 weeks one of them (Deb Peake) said why don't you come sit with us. I have been friends with these same girls since that day. They have made my stay Melbourne worth the move. I remember so many characters who worked in the library then. I had the best boss in Pauline Goldsworthy - she was wonderful to work with. I also remember the loans desk - my how things have changed. I remember Libs100 how it used to crash quite a few times a day.
